Algeria


( AL-JEZAIR or Al-Jaza'ir )

A French colonial campaign in the 19th century led to French control in 1902. Guerrilla war from 1954 to 1962 with French forces by the National Liberation Front led to independence in 1962. Postage stamps have been issued since 1924.
