GUYANA
(The former: British Guyana)

Guyana -
was first sighted by Christopher Columbus in 1498 and settled by the Dutch in the late 16th century. Several areas were ceded to Britain in 1815. The country became independent in 1966.

The first postage stamps were issued in 1922.
