Tadjikistan was part of the emirate of Bukhara, which in effect became a protectorate of Russia in 1868. Following the Russian Revolution, 1917, it became part of the Turkestan Soviet Socialist Autonomous Republic in 1918. The Tadjik Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was created as part of the Uzbek SSR in 1924 and became a Soviet Socialist Republic in 1929. It declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

Zanzibar became the capital of the Omani empire in the 1840s and became a British Protectorate in 1890. German East Africa was established in 1891. The British obtained a mandate to administer Tanganyika in 1919. In 1961 Tanganyika became independent. Zanzibar was given independence in 1962. In 1964 an act of Union led to the United Republic of Tanzania.

Prior to 1912 letters were wax sealed. It was following China's issue of the overprints for the Chinese Offices in Tibet in 1911 that Tibet saw the need to issue her own postage stamps a year later in 1912. This act, for future enerations,would be a reminder of Tibet's independent status.

Trinidad was visited by Christopher Columbus in 1498 and settled by Spain in the 16th century. It was acquired by Britain in 1797. Tobago was captured by the French in 1781 and acquired by Britain in 1802. Tobago became a British colony in 1814. Trinidad and Tobago united as a British Crown Colony in 1899 becoming an independent member of the Commonwealth in 1962 and a republic in 1976.
